A Suns-Spurs Solution

There’s exactly one sports team the good people of Phoenix actually care about – the Phoenix Suns. So the suspension of Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw for leaving the bench after Steve Nash was driven into the scorers’ table has been the sole topic of conversation for the last 24 hours.

There is a simple solution:

1) Locate player on the long end of the Suns’ bench, someone who doesn’t really play all that often.

2) Have said player locate a certain player on the San Antonio Spurs. No one in particular, though someone standing 7-foot probably would make an inviting target.

3) Have said player one punch said player two in the face in front of the Spurs’ bench, just to see who leaves the bench and would have to be suspended for Game Six.

It won’t happen. I don’t even condone it. But once upon a time, it absolutely would have taken place.  And all the boorish, bullying chippiness being inserted into the series by a team that shouldn’t have to do so will come to an end.

We’ll be back on real estate later …

  1. The suspension of Stoudemire was indeed a joke.

My son brought up the case recently when Tim Duncan left his bench and went onto the court. Of course, no suspension for Duncan was handed down.

The NBA continues to be a wannabe sport with TV ratings, I’m guessing, better than only hockey – until the playoffs.

I’m rooting hard for you Suns to face the Pistons in the finals.

  2. Spurs wins in shame tonight! They know they are not good enough so they have to resolve to this. If this is ok then I suppose someone can just clobber a Spurs player cold and claim to be a better team. I won’t do this. And I am not even suggesting anyone to do this. But this seems to be the EXACT message that NBA is sending. Have pity on Spurs. They win in shame!
