Arizona Beagle Rescue in the News

tobey-thumbnail.JPG The Boss will be back later with more of that real estate stuff … just thought I’d take a minute to let you all know that some of the good work being done by the folks at Arizona Beagle Rescue was featured in the news yesterday.

It seems some idiots were mistreating a couple of dozen beagles at a puppy farm. I thought Beneful tasted bad but it beats the heck out of the sawdust that these poor dogs were being fed.

More than a dozen beagles napped, howled, played and ate at an Avondale home Sunday shortly after Arizona Beagle Rescue gave them shelter and medical attention.

Before coming to Arizona Aug. 29, the dogs had spent their time in wire cages and were neglected and abused at a Missouri puppy mill. Some dogs had damaged ears, bloody nails, painful paws and several required surgeries.

None of that’s good of course. And if you’ve ever met a beagle, you know how we feel about our ears. Can’t even imagine what that might have been like.

In any event, if you’re seriously interested in taking in a beagle … and I mean seriously interested … not the “wouldn’t it be kinda cute kind” but knowing that we tend to run around a little bit and might be inclined to roo at the moon like my brother Captain Morgan, it might be worth checking out Arizona Beagle Rescue’s website.

We’re not really too hard to deal with. We’re just not … um … docile. If you want that, get a lap dog. (I mean a real lap dog … not a beagle with lap dog inclinations … and yes, I’m talking to you, Morgan.)

In spite of the whole Beneful thing … and the “stop begging for steak” thing … I’m happy to have been helped by them and become an ABR alum.
