It’s always enjoyable to celebrate some Arizona State University success. And maybe black uniforms don’t look so bad when they’re holding a championship trophy.
The Sun Devils softball team capped a 60-6 season with its second national championship in four years, beating Florida 7-2 last night. Along the way, Arizona State won all ten of its postseason games and 23 of its last 24 overall.
Leading the way in Oklahoma City was freshman pitcher Dallas Escobedo, who comes from Glendale and went to Phoenix St. Mary’s.
See? There is life on this side of Central Avenue after all.
Arizona State becomes just the fourth school to win more than one of the 30 softball titles joining UCLA, Texas A&M and a university to the south we try not to mention much.
I’m just wondering what excuses Florida coach Tim Walton found after last night’s game … he always seemed to have something handy to complain about.
