Blog Tour USA: Fodder for a Week

AvatarSellsius’ Blog Tour USA made its way into the Phoenix real estate market last night with a two-plus-hour meet and greet at Tempe’s Depot Cantina. Rudy and Joe got off to a rough start by taking up four parking spaces with the pimped out and advertising saturated RV that has carried them from New York City across the country.

With Incredible Agent picking up the tab on the appetizers and drinks, most of the usual suspects were in attendance – Christoph, Jay and my absorption rate disciple, Dave “no distance is too far to drive for free food” Smith from the Old Pueblo. Also making his debut appearance at a Phoenix real estate blogging event was John Wake of the Arizona Real Estate Notebook.

Rudy spent much of the evening with ears wrapped in high-graded audio earphones and camcorder at the ready. Should any of the video make it to the internet, please be advised that I used a body double for all of my interviews and am not responsible for any of the statements made by said body double.

Which leads into something I overheard as I waited for the sellsius boys to make their appearance in the room. Someone was describing his blog and said he’s very careful what he writes since it is, after all, a business blog built to generate business.

Caution is a wonderful virtue but also has its limits. If a blogger is cautious to the point that he or she says nothing more than what can be found on a static real estate website, if nothing ever is said that would generate conversation, then there’s little point to having the blog. Because the blog should be a conversation and, frankly, the best conversations tend to center around controversy and not the merits of 18-inch versus 16-inch tile.

If any of the gentlemen who remembered their cameras are in a generous mood, feel free to send me a few pictures of this gathering. Other than the fact it improbably was warmer in the Depot Cantina last night than at the Ranch House Restaurant last month, this easily was one of the better gatherings so far.

There will be more musings from topics raised last night, but those will have to wait for a day when I’m not in the midst of a closing.

UPDATES: I should have had the link to Incredible Agent originally, but since have added it. If you’re new to the web and need a right-priced website/blog combo (read: free) take a look at what they have to offer.

Also, I neglected to mention the results of last night’s unofficial vote. All of us have decided we’re in love with Kris Berg. Steve, we hope you don’t mind. And we’re jealous not only that Rudy and Joe are headed to San Diego but that they get to hang out with the lovely and talented Mrs. B. 🙂

    Jonathan,

Man, I’m bummed that I missed this event. It was just that kind of day yesterday.

I agree that a good conversation is important, but I am also careful what I say on my blog. I don’t want there to be room for misunderstanding.

    Thanks,
    Shailesh

Misunderstandings often lead to new blog posts, so from that standpoint it’s not so bad, Shailesh. 🙂

Missed you yesterday … and yes, I know I still owe you a phone call!
