Coming Soon: Foodie Fridays

My wife and I are eternally in search of new restaurants to try and, whenever possible, we shoot for locally-owned places because we know how challenging it can be for a small business owner to keep the doors open, especially in an arena as competitive as the restaurant industry. Every now and then through the years I’ve written about places but, thanks to the emergence of several locally-owned restaurants here in the Glendale and Peoria area (not to mention our own ventures into Phoenix’s central corridor), I thought this would be the time to make it a weekly feature.

Besides – it’s both an excuse for a new post and a justifiable tax writeoff for the meal. Which I probably was claiming anyway, but I digress.

Here’s where some help is needed – if there’s a place you really like, drop the name in the comments and we’ll check it out. In the meantime, make sure to drop by here on Friday as we discuss the kind of tacos you will find waiting for you just on the other side of the pearly gates.

We like Taco Guild on Osborn and 7th street. Killer Mexican street corn and good street tacos. Interesting setting in a late 1800’s Korean Methodist Church.

Spinato’s for pizza and specifically gluten free pizza. Their gluten free pizza is fabulous and the dough is made in a separate facility. They also have wonderful gluten free garlic bread. Their regular pizzas are also very good. The location we prefer is on 7th Street and Missouri.
