Confession of the Seemingly Lazy

So, for the two readers I had once upon a time, I feel the need to explain where I have been and why I don’t post all that frequency. Despite the cute title for the post, it’s not entirely out of abject laziness. Mostly, it’s been a keen interest in many things but none of those things have been the idea of writing about real estate.

For instance, it’s been fascinating watching the political battles that have been going on for all this time, even if I’m fully convinced we’d be better off with a far shorter election cycle, a la Canada or the UK. Mostly, I’ve watched with bemused resignation at the fact that these theoretically are the best candidates available (at least until Michael Bloomberg throws hat in the ring.)

Which brings up the question, how does one get to be an outside after spending a decade in Washington? Oh, never mind.

And what does it mean when someone says they want to return to the original meaning of the Constitution when the Constitution as originally passed did not contain the Bill of Rights, free election of Senators, women’s suffrage and counted some human beings then considered little more than chattle to be worth only 2/3 of a person?

Details, I suppose.

Want to know what I’ve really spent my time on? Spending time with the wife and my ever-aging children, the youngest (youngest!) of whom now is about to turn 17 years old. When I started in real estate, she was five. That’s of interest to me, painfully so at times.

I’m loving MLB Radio on the SiriusXM, even though I’ll still finish damn near last in my fantasy leagues.

I’m enjoying season three of Black Sails and whatever season this is of The Bachelor. Remember those regular posts?

In short, I’m writing today to say that I plan on writing again more regularly but I can’t say it’s always going to be about real estate.

But, for those who really want to know, the market now is about the way the market has been. Homes $200k and under (and some would argue higher) are moving pretty quickly. I’ve got a listing going on the market this weekend and I’ll be stunned if it’s not under contract before that troublesome leap day comes around.

There are some new things to write about like the sleep-producing TILA-RESPA Integrated Disclosures. And at some point I may even look back at those halcyon days when we in the real estate community talked about combating Zillow. God, that’s funny stuff in retrospect.

But that’s for the future. For today, I’ve temporarily emptied the most prominent thoughts on my mind. Good talking to you again.
