Hard to Disagree With the Logic

Jonathan Dalton, Phoenix Real Estate AgentSaid Dave Liniger, founder of RE/MAX at a “Be Great in 2008” session at the Desert Ridge Marriott this morning, “Don’t listen to a damn thing the NAR has to say” when it comes to market analysis.

Month after month NAR has predicted the bottom “only to proven wrong the following month.”

His take? To paraphrase, the market’s correcting. Get over it.

Maybe instead of concentrating on NARs predictions, agents should concentrate on selling homes. I like Mr. Liniger’s advice to “get over it”. People should also stop listening to the media and it’s negative spin on the housing market.

I don’t think it has to spin too hard, Jennifer. But I think the constant drum beat has eroded consumer confidence more than necessary.

Sara Bonert of Zillow is reporting that Dave Liniger predicted it would take until 2018 for the economy to fully recover in his closing remarks at RIS Media’s recent CEO Exchange. If Liniger is right, it is indeed time to stop blaming the media and get back to the fundamentals of selling location, location, location as both a lifestyle and a long term investment.
