Quality Customer Service in Action

Here’s a photograph of my favorite bagel place, Hot Bagels on the southwest corner of 59th Avenue and Loop 101 in Glendale’s Arrowhead Ranch neighborhood:

With apologies to my goyisha readers, the true test of a bagel shop is their everything bagel.  For those unfamiliar, an everything bagel is what it sounds like – a little bit of a lot of different flavors baked onto an otherwise plain bagel. Garlic, salt, poppy seeds, etc.

Hot Bagels has the best one I’ve found in the Northwest Valley, hands down.

Yesterday morning I went in to the shop for my bagel and found a line of people ahead of me. No worries; I spent some time talking to a friend of mine.

When I got the register, before I could give my regular order – one everything bagel toasted with low-fat cream cheese (yeah, I know – huge difference in Weight Watchers points there) and a large iced tea to go – I was handed a cup and a bag with my bagel already completed inside.

Good thing I didn’t change my order.

And that’s where excellent customer service comes in. There was no concern that I was going to change my order because I never change my order (except for going to low-fat cream cheese after the Wii Fit incident.)  And everyone in this store knows it.

Over time, they have listened to learn what is that I want and they’re providing it to me without question. If something changes, I’ll let them know but in the interim they’re saving me time, albeit a couple of minutes a day.

A good real estate agent can do the same thing, taking your wants and needs and turning those into direct searches for particular properties far more specific than anything else you can find online.

Show me an online search portal that knows the difference between low-fat and regular cream cheese. Not literally, of course, but I think you get the point.

It’s in the small details and the personalized service that all the difference is made.

  • Thats where great web design comes in. When your clients logon to the site they should be approached with the newest information that is relevent to them, including the latest listings based on the search preferences that they entered when they first visited.
