Scottsdale’s Hotel Valley Ho Condos – Taking a Step Back in Time

avatarthumbnail.jpgTake a step back in time without leaving 2008 at the Hotel Valley Ho in Old Town Scottsdale, which combines both a resort and a residential condo tower on the property with shared amenities.

The Valley Ho originally was built in 1956 and according to the hotel’s website “was the meeting place of Scottsdale’s society, a year-round resort to Hollywood stars, and an oasis for well-heeled visitors from around the country.”

That was five decades ago and like all such landmarks (think of the old Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles), the passing years took their toll. At least that was the case until 2004 when Westroc Hotels & Resorts began an $80 million renovation project and gave the grand dame a facelift while maintaining a 1950’s retro theme.

In addition to the resort itself, the main tower’s upper five floors feature residential lofts and condos ranging from top floor penthouses to one- and two-bedroom condos and  two-story lofts.

There are four floor plans overall – the two-story Camelback, two-story Four Peaks and two-story Papago on floors 3-4 and 5-6; one- and two-bedroom condos and, of course, the penthouse.

With ownership at the Hotel Valley Ho come the privileges – complimentary valet parking and a concierge services, preferred rates at the hotel for visiting guests and access to the Valley Ho’s Oh pool, including the private cabanas and pool bar.

There’s also one complimentary spa treatment per year … for those looking to visit for only a few weeks, your mid-vacation spa day already is booked and waiting.

There are more units available than what’s showing on the below map; the listing linked to the marker is for the penthouse, but there are others in the MLS and a handful more not currently in the MLS listings.

Hotel residences – the two-bedroom condos – currently begin at around $680,000 for an unfurnished condo and just over $700,000 for a furnished property. The lofts start in the mid $800’s and many have views of the pool, Camelback Mountain or the McDowell Mountains in north Scottsdale.

As with any new build (i.e., not resale), I highly recommend bringing an agent with you to view the properties – you’ll need an agent with you on your first visit to have independent representation, else you’re locked into working with a sales agent who, while friendly and charming, has the builders’ best interest at heart, not yours.

    They say, staying in a hotel is an expensive option especially if you are planning to stay for a long period of time in a certain place. It’s really not expensive. And you don’t have to get expensive hotel rooms to experience comfort and luxury. There are of course cheap and affordable hotel rooms that are apt to the budget and at the same time, luxury and comfort are offered.
