The Rime of the Phoenix Real Estate Agent

Water, water everywhere nor any drop to drink

– The Rime of the Ancient Mariner

There are a lot of homes on the market at the moment … just over 38,000 single-family detached homes in Maricopa County as of this morning. And for all that inventory, I find myself in a spot not unlike the Ancient Mariner.

Homes, homes everywhere but the floor plan’s not quite right

Homes, homes everywhere but not the right one in sight

Some of my buyers are looking for homes with fairly liberal criteria. Those who are most motivated to buy right now, however, are looking for fairly particular properties. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but it’s remarkably ironic.

There are 38,000 homes on the market and not a single one’s the right one.

But the right one will come. It always does.

Thanks for reminding me why I’m not personally built to be in the housing side of the business. Almost 40,000 homes and not a single one’s the right one.

Step away from that buyer’s jugular. 🙂

Did it come out that way, Mr. Brown? If so, that wasn’t the intent … I was looking for ironic, not plaintive.

No need to go for the jugular … just struck me as ironic that with all the homes for sale, the particular kinds of homes I need for my clients aren’t available.

I didn’t mean to imply you were being plaintive. If it had been me, I would’ve been whining like a cheerleader on the losing side of a blowout. 🙂

I think that with so many choices, Buyers are forgetting what they really NEED in a home. Sometimes too many choices is not a good thing.

Cheerleaders don’t wear those cool hats like you had on yesterday, though …

Susan … true to a degree. But that’s where it’s up to us to guide them back toward what they’re really looking for, to help them take the emotion back out and make the right decision.

Why is it the only time anyone thinks what I’m wearing is cool, The Boss picked it out?
