Twas the Day Before the Day Before Christmas

Everyone apparently is at the mall today, as I discovered when I went to lunch at Arriba with several of the other agents in my office. Which means there’s probably no one in front of their computer to read this. And even if there is, who thinks about real estate two days before Christmas?

Except for many buyers, this is the exact time they ought to be thinking about real estate. Because I assure you, those sellers who already have written off 2009 and are just hoping for an offer in 2010 are thinking about it. And there’s nothing they want Santa to bring more than a reasonable offer to get them on their way.

Forget the crowds that will pack the malls this coming Saturday for Boxing Day; the place to be is looking at homes whose owners might regard a sale as a miracle of whatever holiday they happen to be celebrating. The opportunities are there for those who are willing to take the time and make the effort.

2009 has been an interesting year on many, many levels. If at the beginning of the year you decided this was the year you were going to get off the fence and make a move to a home of your own, the clock is ticking.
