Weekend Theme Music – August 8

avatarthumbnail.jpgIn the spirit of the anniversary and the attendant sucking up, I asked my wife what I should post for today’s music and she suggested Rupert Holmes’ Escape. It’s been here once before but I have not idea how I missed the treasure trove of humor that was the live version …

First, this performance is from Burt Sugarman’s Midnight Express … maybe that unto itself isn’t funny but it’s one of those flickering memories I seem to have from childhood from back in the days before there was an MTV.

Second, can there anything more utterly random and ultimately hilarious than watching Rupert Holmes offer the Village People a pina colada? I mean … does he know they just might take him up on it?

And lastly … well, you’ve just got to watch the performance. If this doesn’t put a smile on your face, there may be no hope.

Enjoy your Saturday, back with real estate fun tomorrow.

Dude… I will actually admit that I have seen both Rupert Holmes AND The VIllage People LIVE….

My wife and I saw Rupert Holmes at Disneyland on July 17, 1980 which was the date of Disneyland’s 25th anniversary. We were married 3 days later…

We saw The Village People in Las Vegas sometime in 1981 or 82 – Joan Rivers opened for them and we were there to see her….

    Good times…. Good memories….

I saw the Village People, or at least what was left of them, at Disco Jam at Cricket Pavilion in 1995. Little different experience.

Rupert Holmes at Disneyland … too sweet!
